Abstract

Foreign policy is an instrument through which the national interest can be promoted and nation can become a strong power. The art of conducting the foreign affairs of a country lies in finding out what is most advantageous to the country. The main aim of Indian foreign policy has always been to uphold peace in the world and resolve all the disputes peacefully. The key aim behind the India’s foreign policy has been to promote friendly relations with neighbouring countries, to safeguard sovereignty and territorial integrity, etc. This paper consists of various changing dimensions of India’s foreign policy which include Indian foreign policy during and after Cold War, India’s Nuclear Policy, various important accords of Indian foreign policy initiatives with regard to neighbourhood-extended neighbourhood, Quad, JAI, etc. and at the end challenges to the foreign policy of India have also been provided briefly.
