Discourse of Rhetorical Questions

The importance of this study branches out from the fact that, it has a mixture of theoretical, practical and religious connotations. From theoretical perspective; it will contribute to a better understanding of these rhetorical devices and their role in discourse. In addition, it contributes to the field of contrastive linguistics, since it shows the way Arabic and English differ in the linguistic means used to express the illocutionary force of the same rhetorical questions. In addition, the researcher seeks to raise the awareness of the essentiality of pragmatic competence in ESL and EFL scenes.
