The article is devoted to the study of the stylistic coloring of the pronunciation options for lexical units in the aspect of language development trends.It summarizes that in contemporary Russian literary language, phonetic changes can be subdivided into accentological changes and modifications in the pronunciation of individual sounds and phonemes. In the contemporary Uzbek language, mainly phonetic changes of segment units happen, connected with changes of vowels and consonants.As a result of both phonetic alterations of segment units, and accentological alterations, pronunciation variants of words and phrases arise. The recognition of phonovariants of contemporary and outdated pronunciation of words and phrases is possible only if they are diachronic compared, taking into account their evolutionary development. In Russian and Uzbek, particular phonetic changes of linguistic units happen, due to general directions in the development of the literary language, as a result of which there are pronunciation variants of words and phrases.
