Abstract

This article discusses the problem of teaching reading from the viewpoint of communication. It is recognized that modern language teaching methodology is based on communicative language teaching (CLT) principles which focus on communication-oriented lessons in teaching foreign languages in classrooms. From this viewpoint, it can be noted that reading skill should be taught under the framework of CLT in modern FLT teaching. In this connection, it should be stressed that CLT principles and techniques into teaching a reading skill should be used and highlighted in the development of reading skill in particular and this approach has been proved to be productive in teaching a reading skill in communication-oriented context.
